The early hours of Saturday morning proved deadly as one person died and ten others were injured in deadly encounters between groups of people in Dallas and Houston in Texas.
On Saturday, Dallas police received a call around 1.30 a.m. that reported a shooting inside Pryme Night Club. A police release stated that they found six people who were shot. The victims were taken to nearby local hospitals. One of them, a woman, succumbed to her injuries. She was pronounced dead but her name has not been released. The remaining five are said to be either stable or in critical conditions.
The police said that the shooting took place due to a “disturbance” between two groups of people at the club. One member of one of the groups had produced a firearm. He began shooting inside the club and this resulted in six people getting injured in the firing by the suspect, who subsequently fled the scene. According to the police, he went “in an unknown direction.”
Later that morning, there was another similar incident, this time in Houston. Police said that their officers responded to a report of shooting at a club located on North Freeway. The department posted a tweet on Saturday, just before 4.15 a.m. that there had been a “disturbance” at a night club and five people were injured. The injured were hospitalized.
Houston police did not respond when NBC called on Saturday.
KPRC-TV, an NBC affiliate in Houston, said that one man had a gunshot wound to the neck. His condition has been listed as critical. The remaining four victims include one man who was shot in the leg. These victims are said to be stable.
The outlet reported that preliminary information indicated that an argument took place inside the club; it escalated to a shooting when a suspect with a pistol began firing inside the club.
