An Irish tourist has reportedly told police that he was raped by two guys after going for a walk with them in the early hours of June 18. The 28-year-old informed authorities he was attacked on the penultimate night of his vacation in Valencia.
The event is believed to have happened on an old riverbank after he agreed to go for a walk with two males he met in the city’s El Carmen district. After reaching an old riverbank, the pair allegedly pounced on him and sexually attacked him.
According to one local source, the holidaymaker told the cops that his clothes were ripped off before he was forced to have intercourse with the duo. The same source said that following an examination, a doctor at Valencia’s La Fe Hospital discovered injuries compatible with rape.
Police are now looking for two guys “of Arabic ethnicity with a French accent” who only spoke a few words of English. Following the encounter, the claimed victim sought treatment at Valencia’s La Fe Hospital.
El Carmen is located in the heart of Valencia’s old town, Ciutat Vella. It is a historically significant district, as seen by the historical buildings, old churches, and tiny winding lanes. On travel websites, it is regarded as a bustling place during the day and a perfect place to go out at night for dinner, tapas, or a drink at one of the many local music bars and discos.
The vacationer was said to be enjoying his final night before returning to Ireland. He is reported to have flown home later that day after making a police statement and visiting a nearby hospital.
No arrests are believed to have been made as yet by the National Police in Valencia.
