Elon Musk promised to address Twitter’s issue with fake accounts.
Twitter is experimenting with a new government-issued ID verification requirement for its Twitter Blue subscribers. Code-level analysis reveals a method for submitting a photo of the user’s ID, from the front and back, coupled with a selfie photo, to confirm their Twitter account. The function is included alongside others that are exclusively accessible to Twitter Blue subscribers, such as the ability to edit tweets, upload lengthier videos, arrange bookmarks into folders, and other benefits of a premium subscription.
Twitter started informing users that the widely used text message/SMS method of two-factor verification would expire on March 20. Text messaging for two-factor authentication will still be available to users of Twitter Blue who pay the $8 monthly charge. The good news is that two-factor authentication may be used without spending $8 a month for Twitter Blue. An authenticator app must be downloaded, and your Twitter account must be connected to it.
In the coming weeks, Twitter will prioritize replies by:
1. People you follow
2. Verified accounts
3. Unverified accountsVerified accounts are 1000X harder to game by bot & troll armies.
There is great wisdom to the old saying: “You get what you pay for.”

You have a wide range of alternatives, like 2FAS, Google Authenticator, Twilio Authy, and Microsoft Authenticator, all of which are available for free download.
If you add a security key for additional two-factor authentication protection, we no longer require using another backup method for more protection. Security keys can be used as your sole authentication method, without any other methods turned on. Visit the Twitter help center for more information.
