Former President Trump is indicating that he might announce his run for the White House in 2024 shortly after the midterm elections.
At a speech Thursday night in Iowa, the first state where voters will cast their ballots in the GOP primary, Trump gave his most definite indication yet that he plans to launch a reelection campaign.
“I will very, very, very probably do it again, OK? Very, very, very probably,” Trump “Get ready. That’s all I’m telling you. Very soon. Get ready. Get ready.”
CNN reported, “The Justice Department is also staffing up its investigations with experienced prosecutors so it’s ready for any decisions after the midterms, including the potential unprecedented move of indicting a former president.”
Tuesday, the Biden administration requested with the Supreme Court to avoid becoming involved in a court dispute over secret records that the FBI had found during a search of former President Donald Trump’s Florida home.
Trump is asking the high court to reverse a lower court decision and allow an impartial arbiter, or special master, to examine the roughly 100 documents marked with secret information that were obtained during the Mar-a-Lago search on August 8 in order to consider the emergency appeal.
Trump’s assertion is without substance, according to the Justice Department, which noted in a 32-page filing that the case includes “extraordinarily sensitive government records.”
