“From the roar of the engines on the track to the echo of ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ soaring through the stands, the Daytona 500 is a timeless tribute to the speed, strength, and unyielding spirit that make America great.” –President Donald J. Trump . Credit X

President Donald Trump made a high-profile appearance at the 2025 Daytona 500 on Sunday, February 16, in Daytona Beach, Florida, drawing cheers and applause from racing fans. Accompanied by family members, including his son Eric Trump and grandson Luke, Trump’s presence added a touch of star power to the iconic NASCAR event, CWEB reports.

He arrived at Daytona Beach International Airport after departing Palm Beach International Airport on Air Force One shortly after noon. President Trump landed in Daytona Beach less than an hour later, traveling with a delegation that included his son Eric, grandson Luke, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, and members of Congress.

The president took to the track in his black presidential limousine, dubbed “The Beast,” for a parade lap around the 2.5-mile circuit alongside his motorcade. As he circled the track, Trump delivered a message to the drivers and fans through a speaker in the limousine.

“This is your favorite president,” Trump said, drawing laughter and cheers from the crowd. “I’m a big fan, I’m a really big fan of you people, that you do this. I don’t know, but I just want you to be safe. You’re talented people and you’re great people and great Americans. Have a good day, have a lot of fun, and I’ll see you later.”

Trump’s appearance on the track and the event’s massive screens was met with enthusiastic cheers from the crowd. He also took the opportunity to greet NASCAR Hall of Famers, team owners, and drivers on the grid at Daytona International Speedway. Over the radio, he offered words of encouragement to the competitors, calling them “great Americans” and praising their dedication to the sport.

The 2025 Daytona 500 marked the 67th running of the prestigious NASCAR event, featuring 41 cars competing for the title. President Donald Trump’s attendance at the race is part of a tradition of presidential appearances at the Daytona 500, with previous presidents George H.W. Bush (1978) and George W. Bush (2004) also having attended. This was Trump’s second appearance at the event, having previously served as grand marshal in 2020, when he delivered the command to start the race.

A noted sports enthusiast, President Trump has a long history of engaging with the sports world. He played football in college, remains an avid golfer, and has attended numerous high-profile sporting events, including UFC matches alongside UFC CEO Dana White. His presence at the Daytona 500 underscores his continued connection with fans and his ability to draw attention wherever he goes.

As CWEB reports, Trump’s appearance at the Daytona 500 highlights his enduring popularity among sports fans and his knack for staying in the public eye. The event also served as a reminder of his unique ability to bridge the worlds of politics, entertainment, and sports.
