Top five unchanged; Michigan, TCU soar into top 10

The top five teams were unchanged while Michigan and TCU vaulted into the top 10 in the Associated Press Top 25 women’s college basketball poll released Monday.

Top-ranked and defending national champion UConn (4-0) received 28 of the 32 first-place ballots, with three going to No. 2 South Carolina (4-0) and one to No. 3 UCLA (5-0). Texas (4-0) and LSU (4-0) rounded out the first five.

The Wolverines (3-0) jumped eight spots to No. 6 after routing then-No. 18 Notre Dame 93-54 on Saturday, and the Horned Frogs (4-0) surged seven places to No. 10 following a 69-59 win at then-No. 10 NC State on Sunday.

No. 7 Baylor (4-0) and No. 9 Maryland (5-0) held their spots, but Oklahoma (4-1) dropped two places to No. 8 despite winning three games last week by at least 28 points each.

No. 23 West Virginia (4-0) entered the poll after beating then-No. 15 Duke (3-2) on Friday. That knocked the Blue Devils out, ending a 24-week run in the Top 25.
