Mouhamed Gueye had a double-double to help Washington State build an 18-point second-half lead, and the Cougars ended No. 5 Arizona’s 28-game home winning streak with a historic 74-61 win on Saturday in Tucson, Ariz.

Gueye, who had 24 points and 14 rebounds, also provided a dagger with a 3-pointer — only his fourth of the season — for a 68-56 lead with 1:54 left. The Cougars beat a team in the top five of the AP Poll for the first time since defeating No. 4 UCLA in 1983 and for the first time ever on the road.

Washington State (7-10, 2-4 Pac-12) led for most of the game and expanded on a 10-point halftime lead while Arizona (14-2, 3-2) struggled to find offense beyond Azuolas Tubelis, who finished with 29 points and 14 rebounds.

The Cougars used a 9-0 run, fueled by a trio of 3-pointers, to go up 53-35 with 12:44 left, but the Wildcats eventually made a charge. Their 14-2 run brought them within 61-56 with 4:47 to go, but TJ Bamba answered with jump shots on back-to-back possessions before Gueye basically sealed the win with his 3-pointer.

No. 3 Kansas 76, West Virginia 62

Gradey Dick scored 16 points to lift the Jayhawks to a victory over the Mountaineers in Morgantown, W. Va.

Dick drained four 3-pointers to help the Jayhawks (14-1, 3-0 Big 12) shoot 45.8 percent from beyond the arc (11 of 24) en route to recording their eighth straight win. Jalen Wilson collected 14 points and 14 rebounds and Kevin McCullar Jr. had 12 and eight, respectively.

Tre Mitchell recorded 15 points and five rebounds to pace the Mountaineers (10-5, 0-3), who have lost three straight games.

No. 4 UConn 69, Creighton 60

Adama Sanogo poured in 26 points as the Huskies snapped a two-game losing skid with a victory over the Bluejays in Storrs, Conn.

Sanogo connected on 10 of 20 shots and hauled in nine rebounds for UConn (15-2, 4-2 Big East), which defeated Creighton (9-7, 3-2) for the first time in six all-time meetings. Jordan Hawkins supplied 17 points and Tristen Newton added 13 for the Huskies, who took care of the ball all afternoon, committing just five turnovers.

Arthur Kaluma paced the Bluejays with 14 points and a career-high 16 rebounds. Ryan Nembhard had 12 points, Baylor Scheierman and Trey Alexander each added 11 and Ryan Kalkbrenner was held to nine.

No. 6 Texas 56, Oklahoma State 46

Marcus Carr scored 12 points and Timmy Allen added 11 as the Longhorns bounced back from an embarrassing loss at home with a win over the Cowboys in a Big 12 dustup in Stillwater, Okla.

Dillon Mitchell added a career-high 12 rebounds for Texas (13-2, 2-1 Big 12), which prevailed despite shooting 31.5 percent from the field.

The Longhorns got defensive after allowing 116 points at home in a loss to Kansas State on Tuesday. Oklahoma State didn’t get half that total on Saturday. The Cowboys (9-6, 1-2) were led by Kalib Boone’s 16 points and 10 rebounds. Oklahoma State shot just 30.4 percent from the field.

No. 7 Alabama 78, Kentucky 52

Brandon Miller had 19 points and seven rebounds, and the Crimson Tide demolished the Wildcats in Southeastern Conference action in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

Mark Sears produced 16 points, six rebounds, six steals and four assists. Jahvon Quinerly had 12 points on 4-of-7 shooting as Alabama sank 26 of 54 shots (48.1 percent).

The Wildcats’ Antonio Reeves had 20 points and Sahvir Wheeler added 15, but Oscar Tshiebwe (four points), Cason Wallace (two) and Jacob Toppin (three) — their top three scorers — went 3-for-30 as the club shot just 28.8 percent (21 of 73).

Olivier Nkamhoua poured in a season-high 21 points on 10-for-10 shooting from the field in the Volunteers’ blowout of the Gamecocks in Columbia, S.C.
