Tai’Reon Joseph scored 27 points and Bandon Davis had five of his 12 points during a closing 12-0 run as Southern stunned No. 21 Mississippi State 60-59 on Sunday in Starkville, Miss.

Mississippi State seemed to take control with a 59-48 lead on a dunk by D.J. Jeffries with 4:28 remaining, but the Bulldogs didn’t score again, missing their last six shots while the Jaguars (2-6) made four of their last five.

Davis’ layup gave the Jaguars a one-point lead with 23 seconds remaining. The Bulldogs (6-2) missed a shot but got an offensive rebound and called timeout with nine seconds left. Joseph then blocked Josh Hubbard’s field-goal attempt.

Hubbard scored 14 points and Cameron Matthews added 12 for the Bulldogs, who lost their second straight, the first a 67-59 loss to Georgia Tech in the ACC/SEC Challenge on Tuesday night in Atlanta.

No. 15 Creighton 89, Nebraska 60

Baylor Scheierman had 20 of his 24 points in the first half and the Bluejays handed the host Cornhuskers their first loss of the season in a nonconference rivalry game in Lincoln, Neb.

Creighton (7-1) hit 14 3-pointers, making 10 in the first half, with Scheierman making six of those. The fifth-year senior guard was 8-of-22 from the field and added 10 rebounds. Crieghton center Ryan Kalkbrenner had 13 points and 12 rebounds, and Trey Alexander and Steven Ashworth each added 13 points.

Nebraska (7-1) got 20 points from Keisei Tominaga — 16 in the first half — but shot only 33.8 percent, including 2-of-22 from 3 (9.1 percent). The Cornhuskers were off to their best start since 1992-93 and had won every game by double digits.

No. 22 James Madison 130, Keyston 59

Michael Green III pumped in a season-high 21 points and the host Dukes had seven scorers reach double figures in a blowout of the Division III Giants in Harrisonburg, Va.

Terrence Edwards and Jaylen Carey both posted 16 points, Noah Freidel and T.J. Bickerstaff each supplied 12, Xavier Brown had 11 and Jerrell Roberson added 10 as the Dukes (8-0) improved to 4-0 in home games.

The Dukes reached the 100-point mark on Brown’s 3-pointer with nearly 11 minutes remaining. All 15 James Madison players scored in the rout. DaShaun Johnson’s 12 points led Keystone (1-7), which was coming off a one-point victory a day earlier at Wilson College.
