The word is disputed as many women describe it as “toxic” and “harmful. “Some on social media think that people who wear athleisure have “legging legs.”
The hashtag #legginglegs became widespread after women posted videos of themselves in yoga pants showcasing the space between their thighs. The hashtag has subsequently been removed from the platform and replaced with information about eating disorders or disordered eating.
TikTok has banned videos of women displaying themselves showing gaps between their thighs in tight leggings because some have complained it distorts body image.
Some TikTok users have responded negatively to the fad, claiming it promotes eating problems and low self-esteem.
