Golfing legend Tiger Woods spoke exclusively to Golf Digest during an in depth Zoom interview. He spoke with Henni Koyack from his home in South Florida, after his accident in February. The golfing legend mentioned his traumatic injuries, what he thought the future could hold and his joy in watching his son Charlie play golf.
Speaking of his return to golf, Woods said that it was realistic that he would play the tour one day but “never full time again.” He said that he would pick and choose the events he would play in a year like Mr Ben “Hogan did.”
He noted that it was how he was going to have to play in future and called it an “unfortunate reality.” He also said that he accepted this reality.
He also drew analogies with mountain climbing mentioning his comeback to golf like an expedition of climbing Mountain Everest. He said that after his back fusion he had to do it and he did it. He explained his earlier comeback saying that he “had to climb Mt. Everest one more time.”
He added that this time he didn’t “have the body to climb Mt. Everest” and that it was ok. He said that he could still participate in the game of golf. However, getting all the way to the top was no longer “a realistic expectation.”
On February 23, Tiger Woods lost control of his vehicle in Los Angeles. He suffered serious leg injuries as well as other injuries. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said that 45-year old Woods was driving at a speed of 84 to 87 mph on a road which has a speed limit of 45 and that was the primary cause of the collision.
Woods has been practicing his game with his son Charlie. He had posted a video on social media, last week. It showed him flushing a short iron. It lead to hype and speculation that he would be returning to profession links. However, in his recent interview Tiger Woods implied that he was not as yet ready to compete on a professional tour by the PGA.
