Oklahoma City Thunder guard Nikola Topic has started chemotherapy treatment after being diagnosed with testicular cancer, general manager Sam Presti announced Thursday.

Per Presti, doctors are “extremely positive” about the long-term health for Topic.

“Our only expectations for him are to focus on this,” Presti said. “This is his most important priority. He’ll be back playing basketball when he’s able to, but we’re not putting any time length or expectations on that, obviously. He has our total support, encouragement and love.”

Topic, 20, underwent a procedure on Oct. 6 at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston to get a biopsy.

The Thunder selected Topic 12th overall in the 2024 NBA Draft but he tore an ACL in his left knee a few weeks before the draft and did not play as a rookie.
