On May 18, a three-year old child got hold of a gun and shot two people in the evening, in Lafayette, Indiana. It was one of six shootings that week according to a popular local news outlet. However, the fallout of the shooting was the arrest of one person, as he is an active murder suspect.
According to 13News, officers responded to a call at around 8.30 p.m., on Thursday. The police investigating the shooting found out that a three-year old took possession of a gun although it is not known how the young child got hold of the gun, and shot two people with the same bullet–his 21-year mother and her 23-year-old friend.
Lt. Justin Hartman of the Lafayette police department said that Trayshaun Smith was arrested on Thursday, after he made a hospital visit to treat a non-life-threatening wound caused by a firearm. The 23-year-old man is a murder suspect. Another victim also visited the hospital due to a gunshot wound.
Hartman also added that they had found that a three-year old child had accessed a gun. The child fired one round that struck two people. The victims had visited the Franciscan Health Lafayette East Hospital to treat their gun injuries.

The police department later ascertained that the shooting took place at an apartment complex located in Lafayette, Indiana. The young child got hold of a gun and shot his mother (whose name has not been released) and her friend, Smith.
Trayshaun Smith has an active murder warrant from Cook County, in Illinois. The Lafayette Police Department arrested the 23-year-old and are coordinating with the police department located in Markham, Illinois.
Smith is a current resident of Lafayette Illinois. The town is located about 60 miles away from the capital Indianapolis.
