Resurfaced comments came to light that Richards made on “The Randumb Show.” He hosted and created for the weekly late-night comedy talk show in the late ’90s. At the time he was a student at Malibu’s Pepperdine University.
Richards stepped down from the show last week due to public outrage and resurfaced sexist comments. The host was continuing his position behind the scenes as the executive producer of the game show. It was reported that Richards was relieved of his duties at “Jeopardy!” and “Wheel of Fortune” in the EP capacity as well.
Prete, Sony Pictures Television’s executive vice president for business and strategy full official statement to the staffs of the two-game show reads as follows:
Dear Team,
I’m writing to let you know that Mike will no longer be serving as EP of Wheel and Jeopardy! effective immediately. We had hoped that when Mike stepped down from the host position at Jeopardy! it would have minimized the disruption and internal difficulties we have all experienced these last few weeks. That clearly has not happened.
Michael Davies from Embassy Row has agreed to help with production on an interim basis until further notice. Michael and I will work together with all of you in the weeks ahead to ensure that production remains on schedule, and we do not miss a beat as we head into the new season. Source: New York Post
