Sending a letter is set to get more expensive as stamp prices rise. The United States Postal Service stated in October that the price of everlasting stamps would rise beginning January 22, 2023. The cost to send a letter is increasing from sixty cents to sixty-three cents, USPS said.
Other USPS rates are increasing too, including those for sending postcards and letters weighing more than an ounce. Postcards shipped within the United States will cost forty-eight cents, and overseas postcards will cost $1.45.
The single-piece letter and flat additional-ounce fee will remain unchanged at 24 cents. The Postal Service is also asking for price increases for Special Services items such as Certified Mail, Post Office Box rental costs, money order fees, and the cost of purchasing insurance when mailing an item.
“As operating expenses continue to rise, these price adjustments provide the Postal Service with much needed revenue to achieve the financial stability sought by its Delivering for America 10-year plan,” USPS said in a statement. “The prices of the U.S. Postal Service remain among the most affordable in the world.”
