Sphere, a $2.3 billion entertainment complex with a massive LED screen that shows various animations like the moon and planets, fireworks, and eyeballs, has been unveiled in Las Vegas.
Construction started in 2018, and the fireworks display on July 4 officially lit it up.

With 1.2 million puck lights and a surface area of around 580,000 square feet, Sphere is reputed to be the biggest LED screen on Earth. According to Sphere Entertainment, each light contains 48 diodes, a kind of semiconductor chip that can each display up to 256 million colors.

A series of 25 U2 performances will kick off the Sphere’s September 29 opening, and then it will show Darren Aronofsky’s immersive movie “Postcard From Earth.” With over 160,000 speakers assuring crystal-clear sound for every seat and a towering 16K LED Screen encircling the audience, the venue’s immersive capabilities are anticipated to deliver a one-of-a-kind experience. Additionally, by vibrating and imitating diverse environmental effects, haptic seats and 4D machines will further improve the sensory experience.

According to Guy Barnett, SVP of brand strategy and creative development at Sphere, “The Exosphere is more than a screen or a billboard — it is living architecture, and unlike anything that exists anywhere in the world.”
