A New York Times best-selling author–Christopher Andersen has released a new book titled “The King: The Life of Charles III. The book release came just before the king’s son Prince Harry was releasing his memoir titled Spare. Andersen’s book sympathetically portrays his Majesty King Charles, without sparing him, as well.
King Charles III can be described as one of the most enigmatic figures of modern times. He behaves like an aristocrat in many ways but also shows high sensitivity to climate change and the need for a greener and more friendly planet and other matters.
The then Prince of Wales has also shown a lot of patience and fortitude as he remained the oldest and longest-serving heir to the British throne as his mother Queen Elizabeth II reigned for 70 years, and passed away last September, amid her Platinum Jubilee year. He waited for more than 70 years to become the King of Great Britain and some commonwealth nations.
The King: The Life of Charles III covers his entire life including his childhood, military career, and both of his marriages–to Lady Diana Spencer and to Camilla Parker Bowles.
Christopher Andersen has written about all the major milestones in King Charles III’s life. His portrayal of the monarch is at times sympathetic while it also points out the lavish lifestyle and other aspects of royal life.
There are detailed reports of several events that occurred in the monarch’s life and the book also paints a more humane portrayal of Charles.
Although the book has a few historical errors, it is a comprehensive account of King Charles III. Global fans of the royal family or those who don’t know much about the British monarchy are bound to learn a lot from the book–The King: The Life of Charles III by Christopher Andersen.
