Wednesday, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the United States issued Alaska Airlines a ground stop advisory, stating, “All Alaska mainline and subcarrier flights have been grounded.”
The FAA stated in a separate statement that the airline “requested the FAA to suspend the airline’s nationwide mainline departures.” No explanation was given regarding the cessation. According to a report by CNBC, the dilemma might have been caused by an IT malfunction, as the airline’s weight and balance calculation system was not operating properly.
