On May 15, 2022, the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas hosted the 29th edition of the Billboard Music Awards. Hosted by American rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs, the legendary Billboards Honors took place for the uninitiated, and celebrity musicians like Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift, Drake, and Ed Sheeran, among others, received awards.
With seven accolades, Olivia Rodrigo won the most awards, including female artist, new artist, Hot 100 artist, radio songs artist, streaming songs artist, Billboard Global 200 artist, and Billboard 200 album.
Ye, previously Kanye West, took home the most number — six prizes. He won top singers, albums, and songs in both the gospel and Christian genres. Ye’s career BBMA totals to 17.
Drake received five trophies, bringing his total to 34. He won top artist and top male artist for a record third time, top rap artist for the fourth time, and top rap album Certified Lover Boy, again a record third.
Justin Bieber took home five awards, bringing his total to 26. Taylor Swift took home four awards, bringing her total to 29.
BTS (the Bangtan Boys), the South Korean boy band won three Billboard Music Awards this year. The K-pop septet has now eclipsed Beyonce’s Destiny’s Child, which has 11 trophies, with their win.

For the third year in a row, Lady Gaga was named top dance/electronic artist, while Bad Bunny was named top Latin artist for the third time in a row.
KGO516 by Karol G was the first female artist to win the top Latin album since Jenni Rivera’s La Misma Gran Seora in 2013.
Meanwhile, Kali Uchis’ telepata took up the top Latin song award, making her the first female artist to win since Shakira won a collaboration with Freshlyground in 2011.
For the third time, Dan + Shay were named the best country duo/group. Doja Cat took home four trophies, including one for best R&B artist. Mary J. Blige was honored with the Icon Award for her contributions to music and wore a Julien Macdonald.
Elton John earned the top dance/electronic song award for his hit collaboration with Dua Lipa. For their ‘No Filter Tour’, the Rolling Stones won the best tour and best rock tour.
On the red carpet of the Billboard Music Awards, amazing stars from the music industry slayed their best fashion style. Celebrity Megan Fox was outstanding in a David Koma gown while Doja Cat’s Schiaparelli black gown looked its fab best.
