The Boys in the Boat is a 2023 American biographical sports drama film produced and directed by George Clooney. The screenplay was written by Mark L. Smith and is based on the 2013 book of the same name by Daniel James Brown. The movie chronicles the University of Washington rowing squad striving to qualify for the 1936 Summer Olympics. Joel Edgerton portrays coach Al Ulbrickson Sr., and Callum Turner plays rower Joe Rantz.
