Texas women’s hoops lands two 5-star recruits in 24 hours

Texas women’s basketball coach Vic Schaefer has landed commitments from a pair of five-star recruits for 2026, giving the Longhorns the top-ranked class in the country.

Addison Bjorn, a 6-foot-2 wing out of Riverside, Mo., announced her decision on Thursday, following the previous day’s commitment from Brihanna Crittendon, a 6-3 wing from Thornton, Colo.

Crittendon, the No. 8-ranked prospect overall in the class of 2026 by On3.com, chose the Longhorns over Colorado, Oregon, TCU and Tennessee.

“The relationship with the coaches is the biggest part,” she told On3. “And not just with the head coach, but with the whole coaching staff. Wherever I go, they need to be my second family because my family might not be there. The developmental part is big, too — just seeing what they’ve done with other players and developing me to be the best version of myself.”

Bjorn is ranked No. 14 overall by the site. She also cited the coaching staff in picking Texas after whittling a list of dozens of offers down to a final group that included Duke, Iowa, Kansas, Notre Dame and North Carolina.

Bjorn is known as a strong defender who has won a slew of medals with USA Basketball teams, including gold at the 2025 U19 World Cup, the 2024 Women’s U17 World Cup and the 2023 Women’s U16 AmeriCup.

“I love Coach Vic,” Bjorn told Rivals. “I’ve built really good relationships with all of the assistant coaches, and then my best friend (Aaliyah Crump) is also going to play for their school.”

Crump is in her freshman season after committing to Texas as a five-star guard out of Minnetonka, Minn. The two figure to mix well with Longhorns star Madison Booker next season.

Crittendon and Bjorn join a top-ranked class that includes previous commits in point guard Aaliah Spaight and guard Amalia Holguin.

Schaefer shared credit with Booker for helping to recruit the stellar class.

“It did not go unnoticed with some of these recruits that have decided to come here (that) Madison Booker is involved in everything that we do in recruiting,” Schaefer said after No. 4 Texas’ 95-56 win over James Madison on Wednesday.

“Very rarely does she miss anything. Any time that she could spend with them, she was there. That’s how selfless and giving she is. Rori (Harmon) has done it in the past, too, and it doesn’t go unnoticed. When parents see that, it goes a long way.”
