A 15-year-old boy from Texas shot his parents and his younger sister as well as his dogs on his mom’s birthday and posted gruesome pictures of the murders on social media. He posted the photos on Discord, which is a messaging app. He also threatened to attack a school. Police zeroed in on his location and asked him to come out and instead of doing so, he shot himself.
William Quince Colburn III posted horrific murder pictures of his family. The police tracked the teenager and rushed to his family’s recreational vehicle (RV) home. The RV was at the Aransas Oak RV Resort on S.Commercial Street in Ingleside, South Texas. The police reached the RV at around 11 p.m. on Wednesday night.
They asked him to come out of the RV. He refused to come out and instead they heard a gunshot and a thud that seemed to indicate that a person had fallen to the ground.
In a statement the Aransas Pass Police Department said that they entered the RV and immediately found the graphic scene that was shared on social media. They said that the “male juvenile” was also “deceased”, and the investigators found “4 deceased bodies and 2 deceased dogs.”
The San Patricio County sheriff Oscar Rivera said that the three deceased had also been shot and were identified as
- William Colburn Junior, 63
- Jana Colburn, 53
- Emma Colburn, 13.
The police said that they might have prevented another tragic incident the next morning as they acted on alerts by social media users about the 15-year old’s threat to continue the violence at a school on Thursday morning according to the Corpus Christi Caller-Times. The sheriff said that the boy was home schooled, and he did not specify a school that he planned to target.
Mahria Batts, who identified herself as his sister and the eldest of the Colburn children set up a GoFundMe page to meet the funeral expenses. She asked for support and understanding as they are mourning the loss of 4 individuals. She also mentioned that they heard the news of the triple murder and suicide from a judge in Aransas Pass who called her brother.
