Darrion Williams, who won Mountain West Freshman of the Year honors at Nevada this past season, announced Tuesday he is transferring to Texas Tech.
A forward, Williams quickly became an integral part of the Nevada lineup, with 7.6 points, a team-high 7.3 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.4 steals per game in 33 games (30 starts). He was second on the team with 47 steals and 36 3-point baskets.
Nevada made the NCAA Tournament’s First Four, where it was eliminated by Arizona State 98-73.
Texas Tech is entering its first season with Grant McCasland as coach after the resignation of Mark Adams, who referenced a Bible verse about “slaves serving their masters” when speaking to a player.
McCasland posted a 135-65 record in six seasons at North Texas and led the Mean Green to the NIT title in 2023.
