As cops continue hunting for a man in connection with an Odessa murder, reports have come in that the Ector County Sheriff’s Office found a deceased victim that could be connected to the homicide investigation that started in Texas. The sheriff’s office has allegedly identified the victim as Ronald Wayne Irwin. However, they are unsure whether the deceased is the same person they have been searching for since Monday.
According to Ector County Sheriff Mike Griffis, on April 15, an unidentified white man approached a house in the 5700 block of Greenway and requested to use the phone. Griffis claimed that when the lady of the house ordered the man to leave the property, the suspect and the woman’s husband fought. During the altercation, the suspect allegedly mowed down the 75-year-old homeowner before driving off in a carjacked black Ford Mustang from Eunice, New Mexico.
The perpetrator reportedly crashed the Mustang during the pursuit but took off in a tan Chevy Tahoe. After that, he is believed to have crashed the SUV in a field close to Mertzon and run away on foot. Reports state that the suspect had been driving on FM 1788 between Business 20 and State Highway 191, among other roads in Midland County, earlier on Monday.
Texas authorities are still on high alert, scouring the landscape near Mertzon, with Irion County becoming the focal point of their search. They have urged vigilance, cautioning residents to remain alert and report any sightings or information that may aid in the investigation.
