Burrel “Chip” Davis, the Tennessee police chief who was overseeing the investigation of cop-gone-wild Maegan Hall, was fired on Monday. After an outside investigator, who was hired to probe into how much Davis knew about the sexual romps, found that he was aware of Hall’s sex spree with several officers and knew what was happening but did nothing to discipline the officers, he was let go, the City of Lavergne said in a statement.
Maegan Hall, the ex-officer at the center of the sex scandal, filed a complaint with the state’s Equal Employment Opportunity Commission alleging that Davis encouraged the illegal behavior, according to the NBC affiliate WSMV of Nashville. Hall’s complaint reportedly prompted Davis’ resignation.

Davis merely instructed Hall not to “dip your pen in company ink” while covering up her sexual misconduct with six officers, a recording obtained by DailyMail.com stated. Davis prevented a preliminary investigation and failed to either discipline or report the involved officers, according to the third-party investigator. The investigator’s statement reportedly said that the investigation into sexual misconduct was hampered by Davis, contrary to the City’s policy, allowed, if not encouraged, conduct that may have violated state and federal law.
Before he was formally fired, Davis was on paid administrative leave. As the City conducts a nationwide search for the next top cop, Deputy Chief Brent Hatcher was appointed interim chief of the 60-person department on Monday.

Hall has admitted to investigators that during a trying divorce she “cracked” and engaged in sexual activity with her racy male coworkers. She confessed to having oral sex with Sgt. Lewis Powell, who allegedly threatened to kill himself. Hall, who claimed to be in an “open marriage,” also admitted to having sex with fellow officer Patrick Magliocco and his wife as well as with Larry Holladay. She also conferred her attempts to talk her husband into partner swapping.
Following an internal investigation, Officer Juan Lugo-Perez, Powell, McGowan, and Detective Seneca Shields were all fired. While still employed, Patrol Officer Gavin Schoeberl, Magliocco, and Holladay were suspended. Authorities started looking into Hall and her coworkers after La Vergne Mayor Jason Cole received a tip that Hall was having relationships with several other officers.
