Around 7 o’clock, 31-year-old Fitzgerald was attempting to thwart a carjacking. Prosecutors claim that he was shot in the head on Saturday night. The entire event was captured on security video, according to reports.

Three robbery suspects were stopped by Fitzgerald, but Pfeffer allegedly fled rather than stopping. Fitzgerald caught up to the youngster, according to a surveillance video acquired by WTXF-TV. Scuffling was observed as Fitzgerald repeatedly told Pfeffer to get to the ground. Instead, according to a tweet from a WTXF reporter, Pfeffer shot the police.

Temple President Jason Wingard and Vice President for Public Safety Jennifer Griffin issued statements expressing their grief. Wingard termed the incident “a senseless gun violence.”
