Two juveniles who broke out of the East Baton Rouge Juvenile Detention Center on Saturday night are being sought by the Baton Rouge Police Department.
Willie Jackson, 17, and David Atkins, 17, according to the police, were being jailed on suspicion of first-degree murder. They are seen as violent and armed, according to the police. According to authorities, Atkins is the same teenager who escaped the EBR Juvenile Detention Center on Tuesday, Nov. 14. After that escape, he and another teenager were apprehended again.
Charges of first-degree murder brought by the Baton Rouge Police Department had Atkins detained. According to The Advocate, Jackson was being detained due to a murder complaint that the sheriff’s office had filed.
District Attorney Hillar Moore III filed motions on November 16th, asking for the relocation of Atkins and Green to a more secure location. Atkins is charged in the petition with the murder of 28-year-old Gregory Cotton and the attempted murder of Kentrell Maloid. The Advocate said that Green is charged with trying to kill Cortia Risen.
The U.S. Marshals Service and the Baton Rouge Police Department are reportedly actively looking for them, according to city officials. The city is looking into how the escape took place.
These two individuals are being charged as adults, not juveniles.
