Xavier Edmonds led all scorers with a career-high 21 points while RJ Jones tied his career high with 14 points on four 3-pointers to lead TCU to an 80-56 home win over Florida A&M on Sunday.

David Punch, who came into Sunday’s game leading TCU (9-3) at 14.1 points per game, flirted with a double-double with 10 points and eight rebounds. Micah Robinson chipped in with 10 points and seven rebounds.

Jaquan Sanders led FAMU (3-7) with 16 points and five assists and Tyler Shirley added 13 points on 6-for-14 shooting.

Behind 15 points from Edmonds, TCU outscored FAMU 56-28 in the second half after trailing by four at intermission.

TCU shot 56.3% from the floor in the second half and went 7-for-14 from long distance. Edmonds went 6-for-7 while Jones made three of his four 3-pointers in the final 20 minutes.

While the Horned Frogs went more than eight minutes without a field goal late in the first half, the Rattlers jumped out to a 28-19 lead, their largest of the game, on Anquan Boldin Jr.’s dunk with 1:20 remaining.

TCU’s drought was finally ended by a Jones 3-pointer with 1:04 left in the half. Jones’ 3-pointer started a 12-0 run that started at the end of the first half and carried over to the beginning of the second.

A dunk and two free throws from Punch gave TCU a 48-36 lead with 12:17 left in the game. Later in the half, Edmonds connected on a hook shot in the lane to cap an 11-0 sprint and extend TCU’s lead 65-42 with 6:39 left.

Edmonds’ 3-pointer with 4:45 remaining gave TCU a 70-44 advantage, their biggest lead of the game.

The Rattlers scored the first five points of the game to send them on their way to their 28-24 halftime advantage. TCU had multiple scoring droughts of at least three minutes in the first half.

The Horned Frogs have won four in a row and seven of their last eight.
