Noah Reynolds and reserve Trazarien White each scored 16 points on Tuesday night and TCU held No. 9 Texas Tech to one field goal in the final 4:56, pulling off a 69-66 upset in Fort Worth, Texas.

The Horned Frogs (15-11, 8-7 Big 12) beefed up their NCAA Tournament resume by putting together a strong defensive effort. After Texas Tech’s JT Toppin made two foul shots with 4:17 remaining for a 63-62 edge, the Red Raiders didn’t score again until Chance McMillian made a 3-pointer with five seconds left to make it 68-66 in favor of the hosts.

Reynolds hit a foul shot with four seconds remaining, and David Punch blocked Toppin’s 3-point attempt with one second on the clock to seal the victory for TCU.

Ernest Udeh Jr. added 11 points and 10 rebounds for TCU, which carved out a 37-29 advantage on the glass that included 15 offensive boards. The last one led to Reynolds’ jumper with 11 seconds left that made it 68-63 Horned Frogs.

Darrion Williams scored a game-high 21 points for Texas Tech (20-6, 11-4), while McMillian added 19 points and Toppin chipped in 14 points and 11 rebounds.

The Red Raiders came up short despite outshooting the Horned Frogs 49.1 percent to 41.4 percent from the field.

It didn’t look good in the opening half for Texas Tech, as TCU got its bearings defensively after allowing 12 points in the first 4:21 of the game. It took the Red Raiders over 12 minutes to get their next 12 points as the Horned Frogs pressured the ball and contested most shots.

TCU led for the final 9:23 of the first half, going up by as many as 10, 36-26, when Jace Posey threw down a dunk on the fastbreak. The Horned Frogs settled for a 36-28 edge at intermission.
