A St. Louis County woman is charged with the shooting death of two men she believed were the thugs who stole her SUV after she tracked down the car. She has been arrested for two counts of first-degree murder after she tracked down her stolen car and allegedly killed two men outside a gas station, police said.
35-year-old Damesha Coleman of Spanish Lake was charged on Thursday for the deaths of 19-year-old Darius Jackson and 49-year-old Joseph Farrar. There was another man who was shot in the head during the shootout but he survived. It was not clear which, if any, of the three were suspected of stealing Coleman’s car, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The shootout took place at the St. Louis Speedie Gas station.
According to a police detective, surveillance video showed Coleman approaching a Hyundai Tucson at the gas station with a man who was also carrying a weapon. The man’s identity has not been revealed by police. Coleman is seen opening the car door with her gun raised, while the man opens another door with his gun raised as well.
According to police, Coleman opened fire, igniting the shootout. When officers arrived at the gas station at North Broadway and Riverview around 10:30 p.m., they discovered both men dead with gunshot wounds to the torso.
Farrar was discovered near the gas pump, and Jackson near the car.
Michelle Jackson, Farrar’s youngest sibling, was distraught after learning of her brother’s death, claiming he was an innocent bystander killed by a stray bullet.
Someone else’s messed up killed her brother, Jackson, the youngest of Farrar’s four siblings, told the news outlet. She also stated that she was not angry with Coleman, but that she “would have contacted the authorities.”
