Oscar-winning actress Regina King portrays Shirley Chisholm in SHIRLEY, a film depicting the first Black congressman and her groundbreaking presidential campaign.
The film is an adaptation of Susan Scarf Merrell’s novel Shirley, which portrays the lives of Shirley Jackson and Stanley Hyman through the perspective of a fictional couple residing with them in North Bennington.
The Netflix movie depicts the life of Shirley Chisholm, the first African American woman to be elected to the U.S. Congress, and follows her groundbreaking presidential campaign in 1972.
