On Tuesday, at the BRITS Awards, Ed Sheeran excitedly revealed that his new track with Taylor Swift would be released on Friday. On the red carpet, the 30-year old singer told LADbible that “it comes out on Friday and it’s with Taylor Swift.” Although there were no other details, fans have been speculating about the song being a remix of a song on the album = (Equals). Adele also took home awards after the ceremony.
Fans had been speculating about a collaboration between the two friends-singers as hints had been dropped. Ed Sheeran had a Taylor Swift Patch on his jacket in the video “Overpass Graffiti” on the album =. Taylor Swift had an = sign on her cake in the video “I Bet You Think About Me.”
The two young super hitmakers 32-year old Swift and 30-year old Sheeran have collaborated in the past as well; in tracks such as “Everything Has Changed,” “End Game” and “Run.”
Sheeran celebrated as he won the the BRIT’s first ever award for “Songwriter of the Year.” The Yorkshire lad also let it drop that he was also collaborating with Camila Cabello for a new track that would also be released this year.
Despite Sheeran’s announcements, it was Adele’s night. She won three awards for the following:
Mastercard Album of the Year
Inaugural award of Artist of the Year
Song of the Year for “Easy on Me.”
Adele has become the only female British solo singer to win the Album of the Year award three times. She also won the award for her albums 2012 and 2016.
She performed a stripped back version of “I Drink Wine” a powerful ballad on the awards night. Then she went on to win three awards. The British singer was recently supposed to be in residency at Las Vegas but canceled just a day before she was to perform. She has had a tough couple of years with her divorce and more but has recently dropped a powerful album “30.”
