A criminal investigation has been launched in the hunt for a 20-month-old Georgia baby who was reported missing from his playpen last week. A 911 dispatch call indicated that the youngster’s mother told authorities she thought he was kidnapped from his house.
Quinton Simon vanished last Wednesday from his Savannah home, and Chatham County Police Chief Jeff Hadley stated on Monday that officials are looking into whether there was any criminal activity involved. According to officials, there are more than 40 FBI agents and employees in Georgia helping with the hunt for the toddler who has been missing.
Hadley said they asked the FBI for assistance the day the toddler was reported missing. He made the announcement at a news conference on Monday. Hadley reportedly told the media that they could not say anything because they do not have anything confirmed. However, it is accurate to say that we are also considering the criminal investigative component of it as a result of our work and cooperation with the FBI, which has generously provided us with resources.
According to a local outlet, the youngster shares a home with his mother, his 3-year-old brother, his mother’s boyfriend, and his maternal grandparents. Billie Jo and Thomas Howell, his grandparents, are legal custodians of Quinton and his older brother. Hadley claimed in a statement to the media on Wednesday that Quinton’s mother’s boyfriend saw him when he got up at 6 a.m. The chief revealed last week that the mother got up at a different time and reported the youngster missing at 9:39. The boy’s unnamed biological father was nowhere near him throughout the period of his disappearance, according to the statement.
Detectives have been collaborating with the mother of the child and her boyfriend, according to Hadley on Wednesday. As of Monday, no suspects or people of interest had been identified, and police claimed there was no evidence to suggest Quinton didn’t leave. A thorough search of the surrounding region, including a pond, drainage lines, dumpsters, and nearby woods, has produced nothing.
