Disturbing surveillance footage showing celebrity rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs violently assaulting his ex-girlfriend, celebrity Cassandra Ventura, has ignited a firestorm of reactions from celebrities, web fans, and the general public. This footage from a Los Angeles hotel in 2016 corroborates the allegations made by ‘Cassie’ in an “abuse, violence, and sex trafficking” lawsuit filed in late 2023, which has since been settled.
The video released by CNN captures Combs wearing just socks and a towel and shows him punching the American singer and dancer in the face, kicking her as she lay motionless, and dragging her back to their room by her hoodie.
Rapper 50 Cent, known for his longstanding feud with Combs, ironically commented on the footage on social media: “Now I’m sure puffy didn’t do it. He is innocent. This proves nothing!” Supermodel Emily Ratajkowski labeled Combs a “monster” on social media, while singer Aubrey O’Day warned her web fans about the disturbing nature of the video. Television personality Claudia Jordan criticized people who defended Combs, highlighting the societal challenges women face in proving abuse.
The footage also drew comments from other public figures. Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy called for severe legal action, and comedian Jay Pharoah questioned Combs’ repeated denials. Alex Fine, Cassie’s husband, shared a heartfelt message condemning men who abuse and those who enable such behavior.
The hip-hop mogul has faced several other sexual assault lawsuits, including one filed by his former employee Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones in February. A raid on his Los Angeles home in March featured armored vehicles and armed agents from Homeland Security Investigations. His sons, Justin and Christian, were detained during the raid. As the investigation continues, celebrity figures and online supporters of Cassie continue to voice their condemnation.
