Last year, the sequel to ‘Sex and the City’ was announced and everyone was wondering if Kim Catrall, who played the role of Samantha Jones, would return to the show. There was a long standing feud between her and the rest of the cast members especially Sarah Jessica Parker, who continues to play Carrie Bradshaw. Well, she didn’t return and her character was packed off to London.
The tense relationship between SJP and Catrall has been long standing. Earlier, SJP had said that she had no feud with Catrall and indicated that it was one sided. However, in a recent interview with Variety, she said that she did not want Kim to return to the franchise as there are talks of a renewal of the series “And Just Like That” the sequel to “Sex and the City” on HBO Max.
When asked if Samantha would reappear on the show, showrunner Michael Patrick King said that although he adored Samantha, she would not appear on the show and nor did they ask her to come back because of what she had said.
When SJP was asked if Catrall wanted to play Samantha again, would SJP be ok with that. Parker said that she didn’t think she would be ok with it as there was too much “public history of feelings on her part that she’s shared.”

Parker added that she hadn’t participated in or read articles, although people were inclined to let her know what was said.
It must be remembered that SJP was asked a hypothetical question as Kim Catrall has never given even the slightest indication that she wanted to come back.
There was reportedly an offer of another Sex and the City movie, earlier that Catrall had rejected as she didn’t want to be a part of the project. Kim Catrall has stood firmly by her decision. It is the fans of both “Sex and the City” and “And Just Like That” who have wanted to see Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), Samantha Jones (Kim Catrall), Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Ellen Nixon) and Charlotte York Goldenblatt (Kristin Davis) together again.
