In February, Sarah Hartsfield was charged with poisoning her diabetic and fifth husband Joseph Hartsfield with large doses of insulin before forgetting to dial 911 for almost six hours. According to the news source, she was detained on March 11, 1996, for hitting her second husband, Michael Traxler, at their Rio Bonito house. Hartsfield was using a different last name at the time. Before the charges were dropped for an undisclosed reason, she spent about a week in jail. Her ex-husband was issued a citation in the meantime. Before being arrested, Hartsfield seemed to have only married him just a short time ago.
Sarah’s first husband was Titus Knoernschild; they were high school sweethearts. Their brief union ended in a contentious divorce because Knoernschild claimed he was threatened by Hartsfield and was afraid for his life.
Military man Christopher Donohue was Sarah’s third husband and the father of her four children. They were married in 1999 and the relationship was Hartsfield’s longest. Christopher Donohue remarried, and in 2021 requested a restraining order on the lines that Sarah was planning to have her new husband kill Christopher’s new wife; Sarah’s scheme to thwart Christopher Donohue’s efforts for custody of two youngest children.
