The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has announced its list of inductees for year 2021. John Sykes, who is the chairman, released a statement saying that this year’s diverse class of talented inductees reflected the Hall’s ongoing commitment to honor artists whose music created the sound of youth culture. This list is the 36th list. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame list of 2021 is said to be the most diverse list of inductees in over three decades of its history.
The induction ceremony is scheduled to be held on October 30 and will be broadcast on HBO.
There were a few surprises this year as this is the first in the Hall’s history that three female artists – Carole King, Tina Turner and The Go-Go’s have been inducted in the Performers category.
The list also includes three first time nominees: Foo Fighters, The Go-Go’s and Jay-Z. The Hall defines an act to be eligible for induction after it completes 25 years or more after it releases its first commercial recording.
The Go-Go’s have been eligible from 2006 but this is the first year of eligibility for The Fo Fo Fighters and Jay-Z.
