Robert McCray V made two free throws with 1.7 seconds left as visiting Florida State continued its domination of Miami, winning 65-63 in an Atlantic Coast Conference matchup on Tuesday night in Coral Gables, Fla.

McCray scored a game-high 20 points as Florida State has now won 15 of its past 16 games against Miami. Chauncey Wiggins added 10 points for the Seminoles.

Overall, Florida State (8-11, 1-5) snapped a five-game losing streak and won its first league game of the season. The Seminoles also won away from home for the first time (1-7).

Miami (15-4, 4-2) has lost two straight games. Prior to that, the Hurricanes had won 10 straight. Miami also lost at home for the first time this season (11-1).

Shelton Henderson led Miami with 18 points and eight rebounds. Malik Reneau added 16 points, and Ernest Udeh Jr. nearly had a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds.

Hurricanes guard Tre Donaldson, who is from Tallahassee and grew up rooting for Florida State, scored 11 points against his hometown school. However, he was held scoreless in the second half.

Miami led for a large majority of the first half, but Florida State went into the break with a 38-37 advantage thanks to Kobe MaGee’s 3-pointer at the buzzer. MaGee swished his shot from a couple of feet beyond the top of the key.

Donaldson led all first-half scorers with those 11 points. He made three buckets — two dunks and a layup — as he converted turnovers into fast-break attacks.

Both teams shot well in the first half – 51.7% for Florida State and 55.2% for Miami.

Florida State led most of the second half until Reneau made 1 of 2 free throws with 20 seconds left to tie the score 63-63.

On Florida State’s final possession of the game, McCray drew a foul on Donaldson before making his free throws.

After a timeout, Miami’s Reneau threw a full-court in-bound pass that was intercepted by Lajae Jones, ending the game.
