Chris Mack is expected to become the next head coach at Charleston, multiple media outlets reported.

Mack guided Xavier and Louisville to nine NCAA Tournament appearances in 13 years. However, he hasn’t been on the sideline since being fired by the Cardinals in January 2022. He owns a 278-133 record during his time at the schools.

Mack, 54, will take the position previously held by Pat Kelsey, who was named Louisville’s coach earlier this week.

Kelsey, 48, guided to the Cougars to a 27-8 record this season and their second straight NCAA Tournament appearance. He owns a 75-27 record during his three campaigns at Charleston after posting a 186-95 mark during nine seasons at Winthrop.
