UConn junior guard Andre Jackson Jr. is expected to declare for the NBA Draft while retaining his college eligibility for a potential return to the Huskies, ESPN reported Tuesday.
The 6-foot-6 Jackson averaged 6.7 points per game during UConn’s championship season, but his defensive abilities and playmaking skills make him attractive to NBA teams. He grabbed 6.2 rebounds per game with 4.7 assists.
A May 31 deadline looms for Jackson to decide if he will commit to the draft or stay in school. He is expected to gain more information on his draft prospects when he participates in the draft combine.
Jackson scored three points with three rebounds and six assists in UConn’s 76-59 championship game victory over San Diego State on April 1.
In three seasons with the Huskies, Jackson averaged 6.0 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 85 games (65 starts). He started 31 of 36 games this past season and was team co-captain with Adama Sanogo, who declared last week for the June 22 NBA Draft.
