Former Marquette coach Steve Wojciechowski will be named coach of the Salt Lake City Stars, the G League affiliate of the Utah Jazz, ESPN reported Friday.
Wojciechowski, 46, has made his home in Salt Lake City since he was fired by Marquette after the 2020-21 season. He has forged a relationship with the Jazz franchise, including head coach Will Hardy, since then.
Per ESPN, Wojciechowski has been eyeing a return to coaching and hoped to transition to the pro ranks.
Wojciechowski played point guard at Duke from 1994-98, then joined Mike Krzyzewski’s staff in 1999 after one year of pro ball in Poland. He remained on staff until 2014, when he accepted the head coaching job at Marquette.
With the Golden Eagles, he had a 128-95 record and made two NCAA appearances. He was fired following a 13-14 (8-11 Big East) record in the pandemic-plagued season.
