The Utah Jazz plan to interview former Los Angeles Lakers coach Frank Vogel for their head coaching vacancy, ESPN reported Wednesday.
Vogel joins a growing list of candidates to replace Quin Snyder that reportedly includes former Portland Trail Blazers head coach Terry Stotts, Boston Celtics assistants Joe Mazzulla and Will Hardy, Milwaukee Bucks assistant Charles Lee, New York Knicks associate head coach Johnnie Bryant, Miami Heat assistant Chris Quinn and Jazz assistants Alex Jensen and Lamar Skeeter.
Vogel, who turns 49 later this month, was fired by the Lakers in April after missing the playoffs with a 33-49 record in 2021-22.
Vogel finished 127-98 in three seasons and led the Lakers to their 17th NBA championship in 2019-20.
Overall, Vogel is 431-389 as head coach of the Indiana Pacers, Orlando Magic and Lakers.
In a Monday farewell press conference for Snyder, who resigned on Sunday, Jazz owner Ryan Smith said of the plan for finding Snyder’s replacement, “We’re going to take our time with the coaching search. We have to get it right.”
Snyder, 55, stepped down after eight seasons with a 372-264 record. He enjoyed six straight seasons with a winning percentage above .580 and ranks second in wins for the franchise after Hall of Famer Jerry Sloan (1,127).
