Raptors start strong, hand Magic eighth straight loss

O.G. Anunoby matched his season best with 32 points and the Toronto Raptors defeated the visiting Orlando Magic 121-108 on Saturday night.

Pascal Siakam added 26 points, eight rebounds and 10 assists for the Raptors, who handed the Magic their eighth loss in a row.

Both teams were coming off road losses on Friday night. They were meeting for the first time this season.

Scottie Barnes had 17 points and 14 rebounds for the Raptors, who were returning from a two-game winless road trip. Fred VanVleet added 13 points, seven assists and three steals for Toronto.

Bol Bol and Terrence Ross each scored 18 points for the Magic, who were completing a two-game road trip. Admiral Schofield scored 13 and Cole Anthony chipped in with 12.

Toronto took a 21-point lead into the fourth after leading by as many as 33 points in the third.

Caleb Houstan’s 3-pointer trimmed the Raptors lead to 18 with 6:43 remaining in the fourth quarter. Houstan’s bank shot cut the margin to 13 with 51 seconds left.

Toronto led 36-22 after one quarter.

VanVleet’s 3-pointer with 5:35 left in the second increased the lead to 17. Toronto led 64-48 at halftime.

Anunoby had 23 first-half points, Siakam had 11 and Barnes had nine points and 10 rebounds as Toronto shot 58.5 percent in the first half.

Bol led Orlando with 11 first-half points.

Toronto opened the third quarter on a 10-2 run capped by Barnes’s seven-footer with 9:34 to play. The lead reached 26 on Anunoby’s bank shot with 7:15 remaining in the third. Anunoby’s dunk with 4:22 to play in the quarter bumped the lead to 33. The Magic completed the third quarter on a 10-0 run, cutting the lead to 94-73.

Mo Bamba (back spasms), Wendell Carter Jr. (strained right plantar fascia), Gary Harris (strained right hamstring), Jonathan Isaac (left knee injury recovery), Chuma Okeke (left knee soreness) and Jalen Suggs (right ankle soreness) were out for Orlando.

Precious Achiuwa (right ankle sprain) and Otto Porter Jr. (dislocated toe on left foot) were out for Toronto.
