Rapinoe says Cease and Desist to apply to Dwayne Johnson over new XFL logo

Megan Rapinoe has said that she could take legal action against Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson as she alleges that the new logo of the XFL shared by him is too similar to the one that defines TogetherXR’s brand. This media company was founded by Rapinoe’s wife Sue Bird along with Alex Morgan, Chloe Kim and Simone Manuel while The Rock took over XFL from Vince MacMahon, the owner.

The US soccer star posted a tweet on Thursday, April 7 where she shared a screenshot of the new branding of the XFL by The Rock. She captioned it “Welp. This is awkward.” She added that both The Rock and XFL2023 would have to respond to a “Cease and Desist” as the TogetherXR brand already “got this on [lock] boys.”

Rapinoe also referred to Johnson’s time with the WWE when he was a wrestler using the name “The Rock.” She paraphrased his catch phrase “Can you smell what The Rock is cooking?” in her post.

Sue Bird also shared a photo of the XFL brand and mentioned that it “looked familiar.”

TogetherXR has not specified why they have an issue with Johnson’s brand. However, the X in The Rock’s brand is very similar to the X in the brand founded by Bird and other Olympians to help young people move away from conventional roles that are laid down for women by society and promote both inclusivity and positivity.

Dwayne Johnson is not only one of the highest paid actors but is also an entrepreneur with several endeavors and endorsements. He relaunched the XFL with a new logo on Thursday, on Twitter but was immediately called out Megan Rapinoe.

In 2001, WWE chairman and CEO Vince MacMahon had founded the XFL as an edgier version of the NFL. However, it saw a lot of downtime. Johnson, along with business partner Dany Garcia, bought the league and were looking to revive it, February 2023.

There has been no comment from Dwayne The Rock Johnson as well as the Olympian founders of TogetherXR, after the posts were up, Thursday.
