Jonathan Lewis was credited with the lone goal, and the Colorado Rapids increased their home unbeaten streak to 23 matches with a 1-0 victory over the Seattle Sounders on Sunday night in Commerce City, Colo.

Goalkeeper William Yarbrough made two saves while recording his sixth shutout of the season for Colorado (5-5-3, 18 points). Yarbrough also matched the franchise career record of 23 shutouts set by Tim Howard (2016-19).

The Rapids are 5-0-2 at home this season.

Seattle (4-6-1, 13 points) had trouble creating offensive chances as its two-game winning streak ended. The Rapids outshot the Sounders 16-9 and put four shots on target to Seattle’s three.

The Sounders had a major chance in the 89th minute when Raul Ruidiaz unleashed a left-footed blast that Yarbrough knocked away.

Seattle had a free kick in the fifth minute of second-half stoppage time, but Ruidiaz kicked the ball into the wall of Colorado defenders. The ball caromed back to him, and Ruidiaz again kicked the ball into the wall as the Rapids finished off the win.

Sounders goalkeeper Stefan Frei made three saves.

The match was scoreless until the 50th minute, when Colorado’s Michael Barrios made a run. He tapped the ball over to Diego Rubio, who sent a right-footed shot on net that Frei stopped with his hand.

The ball caromed out toward the incoming Yeimar, and it bounced off his chest and toward the net. The ball appeared to cross the line before Lewis kicked it in, but the scorer credited Lewis with a goal as opposed to declaring an own goal on Yeimar.

Seattle had a chance to knot the score in the 54th minute when it posted its first shots on goal of the match.

Jordan Morris broke in and flipped a soft right-footed shot past Yarbrough, but Lalas Abubakar scrambled to kick the ball away to prevent a goal. Then Ruidiaz delivered a right-footed shot that Yarbrough stopped.

Colorado held a 10-0 edge in shots in the first half but couldn’t find the net.

Barrios had the best chance, but his right-footer was just over the crossbar in the 29th minute.
