It’s unclear if the now 25-year-old man was ever truly gone in the case of the Texas kid who was discovered alive over the weekend after going missing for eight years.
An investigation into the purported disappearance and subsequent discovery of a 25-year-old male, who had supposedly been missing for eight years, was announced by Houston police on Wednesday.
Over the years, Farias and his mother allegedly exchanged phony names with police during interactions with them, according to the police. The mother of Farias allegedly stated that “her nephew was the person friends and family were seen coming and going,” according to the authorities. In their inquiry, the police claimed they consulted with family members, friends, neighbors, and medical experts before concluding that Farias was never missing.
Rudy Farias was never reported missing, according to a neighbor and a local activist, and had been residing with his mother.
However, at least one neighbor is adamant that Farias never went missing and was indeed residing in their neighborhood with his mother. A neighborhood activist who claimed to have been there when Farias met with Houston police detectives on Wednesday corroborated the version of events.
No charges were made but the police are still investigating the situation and cannot still figure out why Rudy pretended to be missing. This case is ongoing and will be updated as news by the Houston Police comes in. No report of sexual abuse by the mother was found to be false when police questioned Farias.
