White House press secretary Jen Psaki missed her press conference today due to a positive COVID-19 test.
She will not be able to travel with President Biden for his upcoming trip to visit Europe. President Biden is going to Europe amid the invasion of Ukraine by Russia to speak to world leaders.
“Today, in preparation for travel to Europe, I took a PCR test this morning. That test came back positive, which means I will be adhering to CDC guidance and no longer be traveling on the President’s trip to Europe,” Psaki said in a written statement. She also said, “I had two socially-distanced meetings with the President yesterday, and the President is not considered a close contact as defined by CDC guidance. I am sharing the news of my positive test today out of an abundance of transparency.”
Psaki is vaccinated and said due to that she has only experienced very mild symptoms. The press secretary had tested positive in October 2021 just before President Biden’s trip to Italy.
We wish her a speedy recovery so she can back to supporting President Biden.
