Princess Kate apologized to the Irish Guards for missing the final rehearsal before they appear at the Trooping the Colour parade that is held in honor of the birthday of the king. The Irish Guards shared the letter written by Kate Middleton on social media. The Princess of Wales is the honorary colonel of the Guards.

Princess Kate wrote, “Being your colonel remains a great honor, and I am very sorry that I cannot take the salute at this year’s Colonel Review. Please pass my apologies to the whole regiment, however I do hope that I can represent you all once again very soon.”

The Trooping the Colour is a ceremonial event that marks the official birthday of the current British Sovereign. The 260-year-old event consists of a parade with more than 1400 soldiers, 200 horses, and 400 musicians. It will be held in London on Saturday, June 15, in honor of King Charles III.
