President Joe Biden has a busy and interesting schedule in the U.K. and Europe as he will be at Windsor Castle to meet King Charles as well in London to meet Prime Minister Rishi Sunak as well as attend summits in Europe. This is the president’s first visit since Charles became the King. Earlier, First Lady Jill Biden had attended the coronation of King Charles at Westminster Abbey, in London.
Although Biden received some criticism for not attending the coronation ceremony, a royal expert has clarified that none of the Presidents of the United States have ever attended a coronation of any king or queen. So, Biden’s decision to continue with this precedent was expected.
On Sunday, the White House released a statement that confirmed his July visit and detailed his itinerary across the pond. It stated: “President Biden is scheduled to travel to the United Kingdom, Lithuania, and Finland from July 9-13.”
It mentioned his entire schedule that included a visit to London, U.K., where he would meet with King Charles and Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, to “further strengthen the close relationship” between the U.S. and the U.K.

It also mentioned his onward journey that includes attending the 74th NATO Summit from July 11-12 which is scheduled to take place in Vilnius, Lithuania. On July 13, he will attend a U.S.-Nordic Leaders’ Summit scheduled to be held in Helsinki, Finland.
The U.K. Prime Minister’s office also confirmed the news and said that the prime minister would be looking forward to welcome President Biden in July. It also reiterated “the strong relationship” between the U.K. and the U.S. and noted that it would strengthen the series of bilateral “visits and meetings” that had taken place earlier in the year.
Buckingham Palace also confirmed that President Biden would be meeting King Charles at Windsor Castle on July 10. U.S. President Joe Biden had visited Queen Elizabeth II at Windsor Castle in June 2021.
President Joe Biden has a warm relationship with his allies across the Atlantic. It includes the U.K. and several countries in Europe.
