Wrexham AFC announced it has extended the contract of striker Sam Dalby for a year through the 2024-25 season.
Dalby, 23, has scored nine goals since joining the club in the summer of 2022 from Southend United. He was named the Young Player of the Season for the 2022-23 season.
“I’m really excited. I love it here,” Dalby said in a club release Friday. “I’ve loved it from the start — everyone was really welcoming. Obviously we’re building something big here, so it’s a pleasure to be a part of.
“We had a great season last year, and we’re building on it already, and I’m just looking forward to the rest of the season.”
Dalby scored the first goal in Wrexham’s upset win at Coventry City in last year’s FA Cup and also scored the winning stoppage-time goal at Aldershot Town. He went on to start five of the final seven matches last season.
Dalby has made 16 appearances this season, highlighted by having the assist on Jordan Davies’ game-winning goal late in Saturday’s game against Salford.
Before making his senior breakthrough at Southend, Dalby played for Leyton Orient, Leeds United and Watford.
“We were always going to extend Sam’s contract because he is a good young striker who is only going to get better,” Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson said.
“He’s got a lot of potential, and we are looking forward to continue working with him.”
