Wrexham completed the signings of defender Luke Bolton and center-forward Jack Marriott before the close of January’s transfer window.

The additions come at a key time for Wrexham, with the club sitting second in the League Two table with 52 points, just one ahead of Mansfield.

Bolton, 24, joins Wrexham from League Two rival Salford City on a deal that runs through 2026. He joined Salford in the summer of 2021 and has 20 League Two appearances this season, recording five assists.

Bolton also has experience playing with Wrexham’s Elliot Lee from a stint together with Luton Town. He represented England at the Under-20 level and was part of the Three Lions squad that won the Toulon Tournament.

“I’m buzzing to be here,” Bolton said. “How the club has kicked on in League Two to be second in the table is something I want to be a part of.

“Hopefully we can push on and go for the title because it’s not out of the picture that’s for sure, and I’m glad to be part of it.”

Marriott, 29, is signed until 2025 as he moves over from Fleetwood Town for an undisclosed fee. He spent the past year with Fleetwood following a second stint with Peterborough, where he won the League One golden boot award during the 2017-18 season with 27 goals.

Marriott began his career at Ipswich Town and has scored more than 100 goals while playing for 10 clubs, including three seasons with Derby County in the Championship league. He has five goals in 24 League One games this season.

“The club’s performances, the way they play as a team is a real key factor for me signing and the trajectory that the Club is going in is something that I want to be involved in and I’m absolutely delighted to be here,” Marriott said.

Wrexham sits five points behind Stockport in the standings as it makes a push for a second consecutive promotion. Mansfield is third, with Barrow and Crewe only one point back with 50 points each.

While Barrow and Crewe have played 29 league matches, Stockport and Mansfield have played 28. Wrexham is tied for the fewest matches played in League Two to date with 27.
